Qatar Hydro and Electricity Company (Kahramaa) recently announced the launch of the Qatar National Renewable Energy Strategy (QNRES) to advance the sustainable development goals of Qatar's National Vision 2030. The strategy, developed by Kahramaa in coordination with the country's 22 major energy entities, aims to increase the use and diversification of renewable energy, with a focus on the use of solar power.

Qatar's annual solar power generation per square meter exceeds 2,000 kilowatt hours, ranking first in the world, and it is one of the countries with the greatest potential to produce photovoltaic power in the world. According to the newly announced strategy, Qatar aims to expand its large-scale renewable energy facilities to approximately 4 million kilowatts by 2030, while installing approximately 200 megawatts of distributed solar power generation equipment.

The strategy will not only reap economic benefits but also focus on environmental protection, improve air quality and contribute to Qatar's energy security through diversification of the country's power generation sources.

On the economic side, the plan expects to reduce the average cost of electricity generation by 15% by 2030 through cost-effective renewable energy solutions; on the environmental impact side, the strategy supports the reduction of carbon emissions, targeting the reduction of CO2 emissions from Qatar's electricity sector. Reduce annual emissions by 10% and reduce Qatar's CO2 emissions per unit of electricity generated by 27%; taking into account the stability of the country's existing electricity system and non-renewable energy sources, the strategy proposes a combination of renewable energy and natural gas generation. Strategy.

*Qatar is the world's largest natural gas producer and exporter. Its export volume last year was second only to the United States and Australia. Qatar is vigorously expanding its natural gas production capacity and aims to reach nearly a quarter of the global market share by 2030.
