Qatar World Cup is open!

Before that, the local area could only rely on oil, wind and hydroelectric power. The cost of oil-fired power generation is too high for ordinary people to afford, while wind and water power are completely "depending on the sky" and are very unstable.

China provided Qatar with the first photovoltaic power to help the local energy transition not only ignited the "green passion" of fans around the world, but also strongly supported Qatar's commitment to host a "carbon-neutral" World Cup!

On October 18, local time, the 800 MW photovoltaic project in Qatar held a commissioning ceremony. Qatari Emir (Head of State) Prime Minister Tamim and Interior Minister Khalid Khalid, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and other officials attended the ceremony. Kirby highly affirmed the project's contribution to reducing carbon emissions and thanked Chinese companies for their efforts

The project has received high attention from domestic and foreign media. Why is it so dazzling?

Qatar is rich in oil and gas resources, and its carbon emissions per capita ranks first in the world

As part of Qatar's "2030 National Vision", the completion of the first non-fossil fuel power station, the world's third largest photovoltaic project using tracking systems and bifacial modules has become the first step in Qatar's energy saving and emission reduction

The project is general contracted by Power China EPC, with a total investment of about 2.98 billion yuan, and the park covers an area of 10 square kilometers. Its photovoltaic tracking system can follow the position of the sun in real time and maintain the best illumination angle all the time, while the double-sided modules have photoelectric conversion capabilities on both sides. The simultaneous application of the two technologies improves the power generation efficiency of the power station.

It is "dazzling", and there is another factor. Detailed migration plans for native animals and plants such as shrubs, lizards, and snakes have been formulated to find new homes for them, and strive to minimize the impact on the local ecological environment.

Zhou Jian, Chinese Ambassador to Qatar, highlighted the project in an interview with "Chinese Elements" and "Chinese Contributions". It has 1,400 football fields and generates 1.8 billion kWh of electricity annually. The project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 26 million tons, which can meet the 10% of Qatar’s peak electricity demand. It not only ignited the "green passion" of fans around the world, but also strongly supported Qatar's commitment to host a "carbon neutral" World Cup!
