According to reports, The Avenues-Bahrain, a famous shopping mall in Bahrain, announced that it has signed a solar purchase agreement (PPA) agreement with Yellow Door Energy (YDE) to purchase a 3.5MW solar garage system, including the entire outdoor parking facility of the mall.
Under the agreement, YDE will build, operate and maintain the solar carport, which will consist of more than 6,000 bifacial solar panels, provide shade for 1,025 parking spaces and generate more than 5.8 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy in the first year. Construction of the project will begin in the near future and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year.
The solar garage, covering an area of 23,500 square meters, will complement the shopping center's four-year-old rooftop solar PV system with a capacity of 250 kilowatts and reduce carbon emissions by 300 tonnes per year.
