The Italian cabinet has approved 13 agricultural PV projects in the southern regions of Apulia and Basilicata.
The Italian Council of Ministers has authorized the construction of 13 agricultural PV projects with a total capacity of 593.6 MW to further simplify the development process of large-scale installations across the country.
Among the approved projects, 12 are located in the southern Apulia region, and the remaining one is planned to be deployed in the neighboring Basilicata region, none of which require additional environmental impact assessment.
Among the approved projects, an agricultural photovoltaic power plant is located in the municipality of Tonala, in the province of Foggia, and a 43 MW agricultural photovoltaic facility will be built in three different municipalities in the province of Brindisi.
Another project is planned for the city of Manfredonia near the province of Foggia, and a power plant of about 53 MW is to be built in the city of Serignola in the same province.
The government has also given the green light to the "Agri-Natural-Solar Power Plant" in the municipality of Serignola and another 48 MW plant in the municipality of Stonara.
The agricultural photovoltaic power plant in Basilicata will be located in the municipality of Tove, in the province of Potenza.
The Italian government began to authorize some renewable energy projects in March 2022, bypassing regional authorities, in response to policy changes in renewable energy licensing. Italy's solar and renewable energy market has shown clear signs of recovery since then. A few months later, in October, the government approved construction of eight renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of 314 MW.
