Alexandra Panina, a member of the board of directors of Russia's "Inter RAO" power company, recently revealed that Russia's electricity exports to my country will decline significantly in 2023. Compared with 4.6 billion kilowatt-hours in the same period in 2022, Russia's electricity exports this year are only 3.1 billion kilowatt-hours. Panina acknowledged that this figure is significantly lower than the record set in 2022.
Panina said that there are currently certain restrictions in Russia's supply of power to our country. The original 550-kilovolt high-voltage transmission line, which had a minimum flow of 70 megawatts, has been shut down. Now, however, according to Panina, there is a significant shortage of power available for distribution.
"Currently we have lines exporting from Khabarovsk. Throughout January we will reach around 113-115 MW," she revealed. Nonetheless, Panina noted that Russian electricity exports in 2023 amounted to 10.7 billion kilowatts. hours, compared with 13.6 billion kilowatt-hours in the same period in 2022, still showing a downward trend.
It can be seen from the above data that Russia's electricity exports to my country have experienced large fluctuations in the past two years. In 2023, affected by factors such as the closure of transmission lines, Russia's electricity exports to my country dropped to 3.1 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year decrease of 26.9%. At the same time, Russia's total electricity exports have also dropped from 13.6 billion kilowatt-hours in 2022 to 10.7 billion kilowatt-hours.
Under the current international situation, the decline in Russia's electricity exports may have a certain impact on my country's energy market. However, in the long run, as cooperation between the two countries in the energy field continues to deepen, it is believed that Russia's power exports to my country will gradually recover and achieve sustainable development in the future. In this process, both sides need to work together to overcome problems such as transmission lines and promote energy cooperation between the two countries to a higher level.
