The French Ministry of Ecological Transition reported that approximately 2,229 MW of new photovoltaic systems were connected to the French grid between January and September. During the same period last year, the country added 1,923 MW of new photovoltaic capacity. The newly installed solar capacity in 2022 will reach 2.4 GW.

In the third quarter of this year, the country deployed 803 MW of new PV systems, compared with 699 MW in the same period last year. As of the end of September 2023, France's cumulative photovoltaic installed capacity reached 19.0 GW.

In the first nine months of this year, the New Aquitaine, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Grand Est regions accounted for 68% of all new network capacity. These areas are the areas with the highest installed capacity, accounting for more than 72% of France's cumulative power generation as of the end of June.

Meanwhile, the total capacity of solar projects lined up to apply for grid connection has increased by 27% since the beginning of this year to 21.4 GW, including 5.4 GW with signed grid connection agreements.
