According to reports, a report released by the European energy think tank Ember shows that between 2019 and 2023, the installed capacity of wind and solar power generation in the EU increased by 65%. Among them, Germany contributed the most, with a growth contribution of 22%, and Spain contributed 13%. During this period, more than half of the EU member states doubled their wind and solar power generation capacity.

Between 2019 and 2023, the EU's solar power generation capacity more than tripled to 257 GW, and wind power generation capacity increased by nearly 1/3 to 219 GW. In the past four years, the proportion of wind and solar power generation in electricity supply has increased from 17% to 27%.

The goal set in the EU Green Agreement is to increase the proportion of renewable energy in the entire EU to 42.5% by 2030 and achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
