Bekaert, a global leader in wire processing and coating, and Rezolv Energy, an independent power producer in Central Europe, have recently signed a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) in Romania. The 10-year contract, executed by its project subsidiary First Looks Solutions S.R.L., will see Bekaert purchase an additional 100 GWh of renewable electricity per year to strengthen its renewable energy supply.
The electricity will come from the 461 MW VIFOR wind farm developed by Rezolv Energy and Low Carbon in Buzu County, Romania. Once operational, the wind farm will be one of the largest onshore wind farms in Europe. The first phase of the project will add 192MW of capacity, with a second phase planned to expand to 461MW. The project will be constructed within 18 months and is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2025.
