Bangladesh PM Hasina Says Irrigation Pumps To Be Fully Powered By Solar Energy

It is reported that Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said at the unveiling of the tree planting event of the Bangladesh Christian Alliance that the government hopes to transform Bangladesh's irrigation system to run entirely on solar energy. She said: "I want to make the irrigation system completely dependent on solar energy. Initially, this may require some investment, but in the long run, it will reduce costs." She also said that solar panels are being developed and can be installed in nearby villages for irrigation. She called on people to plant a large number of trees to build a "green Bangladesh."
