$650 Million! Austria To Allocate Funds For PV Incentive Scheme

According to foreign media reports, Austria plans to allocate 650 million US dollars to provide financial support for photovoltaic developers to install photovoltaic systems, and also plans to take measures to simplify the approval process for installing photovoltaic systems.

Figures from the research institute indicate that Austria will install more than 1GW of photovoltaic systems in 2022.

Despite this growth, the Austrian federal government plans to further accelerate the country's PV market by providing a record €600 million ($650 million) in subsidies, the Austrian Photovoltaic Association (PV Austria) claims. In addition to providing more subsidies, the Austrian government will also take measures to simplify the approval process for installing photovoltaic systems.

So far, the Austrian government has included two sources of funding in the Renewable Energy Expansion Act (EAG) – subsidies and market premium funding. The country's government plans to quickly implement an additional funding scheme for photovoltaic projects. The Austrian Photovoltaic Association said this additional funding program will provide 268 million euros.

Vera Immitzer, general manager of the Austrian Photovoltaic Association, said, "This fast-track measure comes at the right time. Those PV projects that are limited and unclear due to limited funds should be able to be developed more quickly."

However, the details of these funding plans still have to be worked out by a special committee under the Austrian Ministry of Climate Protection. In addition, the Austrian government plans to develop the "Renewable Energy Expansion Acceleration Act" (EABG) to simplify the approval process.

The Austrian federal and state governments plan to cooperate closely on space planning and process all permits through a central office. The law could be drafted in the next few weeks. However, the Austrian Photovoltaic Association said it was still not entirely convinced it would succeed.

Immitzer explains: "In addition to the federal government, the Austrian states and active space energy planning also need to develop more renewable energy facilities. The Renewable Energy Expansion Acceleration Act can be a good basis, provided that everyone involved Make a commitment to work together."
