Analysis of solar photovoltaic junction box

As an important part of solar cell modules, the solar photovoltaic junction box is a connector between the solar cell array composed of solar cell modules and the solar cell charging control device. The combined cross-field comprehensive design provides users with a combined connection solution for solar panels.


As a connector for solar cell modules, the main function of the solar photovoltaic junction box is to export the electrical energy generated by the solar cell module through the cable. Due to the particularity of the use of solar cells and its own expensive value, the solar photovoltaic junction box must be specially designed to meet the use requirements of solar cell modules.


The photovoltaic junction box mainly has two functions: the basic function is to connect photovoltaic modules and loads, to draw the current generated by the modules and generate power. The additional function is to protect the component lead wires and prevent the hot spot effect.


1.1. Connection


As a connector, the junction box acts as a bridge between solar modules and control devices such as inverters. Inside the junction box, the current generated by the solar module is drawn out and introduced into the electrical equipment through the terminal block and the connector.


In order to minimize the power loss of the junction box to the component, the conductive material used in the junction box requires a small resistance, and the contact resistance of the lead wire of the bus strip should be small.


1.2. Protection


The protection function of the junction box includes three parts, one is to prevent the hot spot effect through the bypass diode and protect the cells and components; the second is to seal the design with special materials for waterproof and fireproof; the third is to reduce the working temperature of the junction box through a special heat dissipation design. Reduce the temperature of the bypass diode, thereby reducing the power loss of the component due to its leakage current.
