It is reported that the Strategic Steering Committee meeting and summary workshop of the tripartite South-South Cooperation Project on Biogas, Biomass and Solar Energy was successfully held in Colombo from June 12 to 14. The Strategic Steering Committee Council of 30 major stakeholders participated in the meeting, which focused on the project results and achievements. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) said that it would evaluate the lessons learned and provide recommendations to ensure the sustainability of the project.
The project is implemented by UNDP in cooperation with the governments of China, Ethiopia and Sri Lanka, aiming to develop local clean and renewable energy in Ethiopia and Sri Lanka. The project also promoted the exchange of expertise and technology and mutual learning among China, Ethiopia and Sri Lanka. The main partners of the project include: the Ministry of Commerce of China, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the UNDP Office in China, the Office in Sri Lanka and the Office in Egypt, the Ministry of Water Resources and Energy of Egypt (MOWE), the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Agency (SLSEA), the China Agenda 21 Management Center and China Agricultural University.
